• Phone ALLEN BRIN: I was born and raised in Prince George. My wife Darlene and I moved to the Vernon area in the summer of 2018. I have enjoyed capturing the varied scenery and wildlife of this wonderful province of B.C. as well as from my travels through other parts of Canada, U.S.A. and Mexico. Nature has always played a large part in my life and this I hope is reflected in my art. My preferred medium is watercolour but I have worked in other mediums as well, including oils, acrylics, pen and ink, pencil crayon and graphite. I usually paint subjects of North American wildlife, both birds and mammals. I have also done paintings of historical churches and have done many commissions for pet portraits as well. I am a self-taught artist having enjoyed art and nature from a very early age. I started doing watercolour while in high school and have enjoyed it ever since. I have also been enjoying passing on what I have learned through the years. I have taught several beginner watercolour classes both privately as well as with Life Lessons Art Studio in Prince George. I have participated in a number of art fairs and shows. Starting from high school at Kelly Road Senior High, the Nukko Lake Western Art Fair, the Prince George Exhibition where I had first and second in the wildlife category, the Northern Artists Festival, the University of Northern British Columbia Artisan and craft fair and the Prince George public library. DARLENE BRIN: I have had a love of art and design all my life and trained formally in design and, to some extent, in art and I have continued to nurture growth through reading art books and taking tutorials. I have also taught art. I like variety and experimentation so I work in a variety of media from mixed, mosaic, ink, oil, acrylic, pencil crayon and experimented in styles from detailed, representational, pointillism, landscape, florals to prophetic and emotional pieces expressed in abstraction. The common note in all of my work regardless of medium or style is a deep love of nature and its creator. As far as selling my work goes, it has mostly been done through word of mouth and from my home, and occasionally through more commercial venue. |
