Every fall, the Okanagan Artists of Canada Society presents its annual Fall for Art exhibition, showcasing an inspiring collection of original artwork created by its members. Admission is free.
Held at the Vernon Community Arts Centre, the exhibition features beautifully displayed paintings in a wide range of styles and subjects. Alongside larger works, visitors will find a special selection of paintings measuring under 100 square inches, all priced at $100 or less. Art cards are also available for purchase, making it easy to take home a unique piece of local art. Live background music adds to the welcoming atmosphere as you browse the creative displays.
In the weeks leading up to the exhibition, several downtown Vernon businesses feature selected paintings in their storefront windows, offering a preview of the artwork and bringing the celebration of local art into the community.
Visitors are also invited to cast an anonymous vote for their favourite artwork in the People's Choice Award, adding an interactive element to this popular annual event.

2024 FALL for ART SHOW |
2023 FALL for ART SHOWThe Fall for Art show in November was a great success!
We were again very fortunate to display our original art in the two main studios at the Vernon Community Arts Centre. In addition to large paintings we had a section of smaller paintings that were under 100 square inches and priced at $100 or less. 41 artists participated with 355 paintings of which 50 were sold. We also had 27 artists displaying their art cards and they were a very popular sales item. We were very pleased that 609 visitors dropped in over the weekend, with buyers also coming from out of town. We want to thank all the artists who submitted their work, the amazing crew of volunteers, the downtown business's which displayed art prior to the show, the musicians (Howard Ketola and Neil Fraser on guitar, and Holly Smith on harp) and the artists who took the time to drop in and visit during the weekend. PEOPLES CHOICE: Kathleen Dubois for “Moonlight” SECOND PLACE: Marg Curely for “Keddleston Birch 1” THIRD PLACE TIE: Liz MacArthur for “Perfect Day Kalamalka” and KATHY MUNT'S for “In Darkness There is Light” |
2022 FALL for ART SHOWThe inaugural Fall for Art Show was a success!
We had 44 participating artists and 327 works of art. Despite a competing craft show on Saturday and the Grey Cup on Sunday, 33 paintings sold over the two days and 476 patrons dropped in to tour the two studios. In addition to the paintings, 257 art cards were sold. We were very fortunate to have clear skies and warm temperatures on both Saturday and Sunday. There was great appreciation for Howard Ketola’s guitar playing and Neil Fraser dropped in on Saturday to join him for a couple of hours. We can’t thank Howard enough for playing all day, on both days, as well as pitching in to set up and take down grids. The volunteers were fantastic, creative, and dependable. Many hours were put in, starting 6 months prior, to dream and plan for this new show and finally a big thank you to the artists who painted and submitted their works. 15 Vernon businesses each showcased 1 artist for the 3 weeks prior to the Fall for Art show. At least 2 display paintings were sold during this time. Big thanks to Penny Ketola for organizing this. |
