I grew up in a small Ontario town, the eldest of five children. As a young girl, I was fascinated by ‘making pictures’. I am told that I would sit with my father and get him to draw for me. Later, I learned to make my own pictures; sometimes to my mother’s dismay, I used the living room walls as my canvas.
Throughout my professional career as a corporate mediator, I continued to explore art: painting, drawing, pottery, photography, textiles. Playtime with my sons was often creative time - making gifts, jewellery, sewing projects - you name it and we tried it.
Why do I paint?
Whenever I pick up my paintbrush and pause before a canvas, I am forced to put aside my fears, and paint, make marks, and make mistakes. I am lucky to be in a position that I can just ‘make art’ as a personal inquiry – and that ongoing quest is what keeps me motivated. I love the challenge of painting abstractly because it demands that I let go of trying to replicate the outer world and opens the door to connecting with my ‘self’ and my inner world.
I love the idea of my art connecting with you, tickling your curiosity, sparking your imagination, and encouraging you to listen to your own creative spirit.
To create and sell original paintings to people who have a bold, energetic, creative spirit, who are drawn to thought-provoking images that capture the imagination and resonate with the inner self.
