• Phone • Website Kathryn moved to the Coldstream area of the Okanagan to retire with her partner John to live out the dream of painting and riding her horses full time. Born and raised in London, Ontario, she longed for the west after a holiday there and has lived in several places including Cochrane, Alberta, and the Lower Mainland of BC. Kathryn has always been active in art in some shape or form, utilizing all kinds of mediums and materials. She previously had her own business making and selling metal art for the home and garden. Getting started later in life into painting, she started out in acrylic but for the last several years has mainly focused in oil. She loves creating different styles of abstract, realistic art and impressionism, sometimes incorporating the two together. She constantly looks for new ways to express her creativity and grow as an artist. Her inspiration comes from her many interests and surroundings, nature, animals, travel and most of all her horses, Santos and Arrow and the places they ride together. The western heritage and culture of Alberta is reflected in her series of western art and paintings inspired from local events and wild life. Her new home in Coldstream, with all the scenic lakes, wildlife and vineyards, will no doubt give her endless inspiration and new experiences for future works. Kathryn is an active member of the Federation of Canadian Artists and the Okanagan Artists of Canada Society. |
