• Website Dawn was born and raised on Vancouver Island. Her love for the visual arts started at a very young age. Throughout school, university, raising a family, having a career, painting and expressing her creativity continued to be important. Since retirement, Dawn has been able to devote more time to her passion. Courses with talented professional artists have helped Dawn explore acrylics, oils and watercolour to create her own style of painting. She is known for her bold colours and textures. Inspirations for paintings come from her flower gardens, grandchildren and travels with her husband. Dawn is an active member with the Okanagan Artists of Canada Society, BC Federation of Artists, the Salmon Arm District Arts Council and the Enderby Artists’ Initiative at the Courtyard Gallery where her paintings can be seen throughout the year. ARTIST STATEMENT: I am attracted to the play of light and shadows in my subjects. I love to be drawn into a flower and paint them on large canvas. Bold, exaggerated colour can be seen in many of my acrylic paintings. |
